"Two To Tango" - Your First
Painting
The essence of learning to paint, in any medium, is to start simple and build from there. That is precisely how I started, and the program I provide will lead you into my style of painting. In this painting, you will need 3 tubes of paint plus white, 3 brushes and a knife, a container of thinner, a rag, a canvas board and the 3 starting artist reference photos. You will learn firsthand how to use 3 brushes, how to mix color and most importantly how to execute the painting without ending up in a mess!
My Seven Secrets To Successful
Painting
1/.
Understanding your basic anchor
or mother colors. Light red,
cobalt blue and yellow ochre.
Knowing how to mix these 3 is
secret number 1! I started with
these 25 years ago and still
anchor my paintings with them
today!
2/.
The 3 brushes are all the
brushes I have ever used in my
25-year painting career. Getting
to know how to use these is
secret number 2! A knife gives a
great effect!
3/.
Knowing when to stop and have a
break is secret number 3! Let
the paint dry a little so you
can work over it!
4/.
Knowing how thin or thick to mix
the paint is secret number 4! A
thin mix dries faster, allowing
you to work over the top!
5/.
Having good ‘artist photos’ is
absolutely essential to
progress! A major part of my
time is collecting the right
photographs: BIG secret number
5!
6/.
Having the ‘artist magnifier’ is
your ONLY pathway to the
all-important detail: MASSIVE
secret number 6!
7/.
Use a ‘soft’ titanium white if
you possibly can: a quiet secret
number 7!
